Happy Sunday, Gunners!
The past two weeks have been full of events, and the next coming weeks are sure to be just as exciting!
Even during the stressful times of finals, our members have accomplished huge things and have managed to have a lot of fun at the club.
Our ’18-’19 bicker chair Nnenna Ibe won the Spirit of Princeton Award for her positive contributions to campus life during her time here. While being a member of the track team and the volleyball team, Nnenna served as a head fellow for the Scholars Institute Fellows Program.
Our ’19-’19 house manager Dan Petticord recently got a write up on the university’s website concerning his thesis on the leopard tortoise. Dan spent time in Kenya in order to study and track the animals, and will spend a year in Panama after graduation working on soil-plant interactions. In terms of athletics, the women’s lacrosse team followed up their Ivy League Championship win with two wins in the first and second round of the NCAA tournament. Hosting the first two rounds here on Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium, the Tigers roared past first round opponent Wagner and second round opponent Loyola. This past weekend the Tigers drove to Boston College to take on the #2 ranked Eagles, yet unfortunately lost 17-12. This wrapped up an amazing year for the team, which is now graduating a class of 7 starting seniors. 6 of these 7 seniors are members of the club, and below is a link to an excellent write up on their amazing contributions to the program: https://goprincetontigers.blogspot.com/2019/05/senior-day-ii.html
In other athletic news, football star Jesper Horsted has signed with the Chicago Bears. His career at Princeton consisted of many accolades, including setting the Princeton record for career receptions and career touchdown catches. Horsted will be joining two other 2019 football graduates in Stephen Carlson and John Lovett in the NFL.
Looking ahead, reunions are to be the highlight of the club’s activity at the end of the month. Alumni from years past will be able to take part in club events such as receptions, meals, and evening parties that are sure to provide more wonderful memories. If you are one of the members coming back, be sure to stop by the club at some point during the weekend to grab a wristband for the late-night members only party on Saturday!
That’s all for now- looking forward to some great events in the very near future!
