Food for thought

Founded in 1896, the Cannon Dial Elm Club is one of the eleven eating clubs that are a unique tradition here on the Street (Prospect Avenue) in Princeton. The Club is an amalgam of three different clubs: Cannon Club, Dial Lodge, and Elm Club (hence our entertainingly long name) and opened in its current incarnation and location in 2011.
Our century-old building combines old-world grandeur and elegance with modern technology. Our stunning, two-story living room features a spectacular medieval fireplace and plenty of comfortable couches. And yes, that is in fact a Revolutionary War cannon guarding the front yard.
Thrive in ’25
After its predecessor closed in 1998, the club re-opened in 2011 bearing the new name, Cannon Dial Elm Club. In the years following, the club built a welcoming, family-oriented culture that attracted a large, diverse, accomplished membership who powered its success and strong financial health. After more than a decade, it is time to invest for the club’s next chapter. Much of our kitchen equipment is nearing end-of-life and we face a pressing need for dining space expansion to accommodate larger-scale dining events. We additionally require significant upgrades to technology and student workspaces and study areas.
To realize the next chapter in our historic club’s story, the Thrive in ’25 fundraising campaign aims to raise a total of $1.5M comprised of $750K from our Alumni members and $750K from our Elite Sponsors. The Cannon Dial Elm Club will provide a dollar-for-dollar match for all donations!

Donate to Cannon Dial Elm
We are deeply grateful for the membership dues paid by our alumni. Alumni member dues are critical to the preservation and operation of the club. While student member dues help us to deliver the finest menu on The Street, competition from other eating clubs and numerous, off-campus dining establishments mean that those fees aren’t sufficient to cover all of our operating, maintenance, and staff costs. Your alumni membership dues ensure that the club experience for current and future members will be as rewarding as it was when you were a member.
