Club News and Athletic Accomplishments!

Hey Gunners,

Happy Sunday! I hope everyone had a great weekend. Below you will find the remaining officer bios along with photos of all the new officers, and some major athletic news from this past weekend.

Social Chair Will Gladson:

Hi my name is Will Gladson and I am one of the new Social Chairs for Cannon. I am from Chesterfield, Missouri and a center on the varsity basketball team. I am concentrating in Politics here at Princeton. Also, I will be a member of the 15th reunion crew at this year’s Reunions. I am very excited to maintain Cannon’s stellar reputation by working with Taylor and Zach to organize the best events throughout the year.

Social Chair Taylor Baur:

Hi my name is Taylor Baur and I am one of the new Social Chairs for Cannon. I am a varsity women’s basketball player from St. Louis, MO majoring in the Sociology. I am also leading the class of 2004’s 15th Reunions at the end of this school year. I am very excited to help continue the legacy of having the best social events on the street!

Activities Chair Abby Hack:

Hi my name is Abby Hack and I am the new Activities Chair for Cannon. I hail from Omaha, NE and am majoring in Visual Arts, with a minor in Computer Science. On campus I serve as the Artistic Director of the Black Arts Company, an entirely student run hip-hop dance company. This summer I’ll be interning at Siddhartha Arts Gallery in Kathmandu, Nepal, working on curating their triennial art show for summer 2020. I am so excited to strengthen our Cannon community through engaging and creative activities, as well as give back through community service programming this year. Three cheers for the Gunner fam!

IM Chair Bobby Evans:

My name is Bobby Evans and I am the current Intramural Sports Chair at Cannon. I’m a Chemical and Biological Engineering major from Levittown, NY. On campus, I am the president of the current club flag football team (old Sprint Football team) and I work at East Pyne as a building supervisor. I also play in most of our intramural games and have a ton of fun doing so (2018-2019 IM CHAMPS! Shout out to Jesper for the great first half). I’m a big time Mets, Giants, and Islanders fan and love classic rock music like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, and Bruce Springsteen. I hope to see everyone at reunions because I will be on tap at Cannon that Friday night! If you see me, make sure to say hi!

Finally, we’ve had some great athletic achievements this weekend!

Football players Steve Carlson and John Lovett both had the opportunity to sign with NFL teams over the past weekend. Carlson, a two-time All-Ivy selection, signed as a tight end for the Cleveland Browns. Lovett, a two-time Bushnell cup winner, signed as a tight end/H-back for the Kansas City Chiefs. Their success at Princeton has launched them to football’s highest level, and we cannot wait to see what they accomplish in the league.

Continuing with athletic successes, the women’s lacrosse team won their sixth-straight Ivy League title this Saturday with a 18-15 win over Cornell in Ithaca. The girls clinched the #1 seed in the Ivy League tournament that is to take place this weekend at Columbia, and they will be playing Cornell in the first round this coming Friday. Dartmouth and Penn will play in the tournament as well, and the winner of Friday’s games will advance to the championship on Sunday.

That’s all for now, and I’ll be back with more updates soon!
