Finals and Fun

Well it is finals period so the club has become very academically minded but that doesn’t mean we didn’t have fun for the two weeks leading up to this time! Here are the highlights.

Last weekend (5/4-5/6) we celebrated our House Parties weekend.  Friday night we celebrated our Formals with a “outer space” themed party!  Bill and the rest of the staff cooked up an amazing dinner and everyone had a blast.  The next night we hosted a “Disney” themed semi formal for all of our members.  We all sang along to our favorite childhood tunes while enjoying the company of one another.  We followed that up with our third wild day which happened to be Lawn Parties! DJ Relley Rozay, a former Gunner, has the club jumping!  We celebrated the end of a successful weekend with pizza for everyone.

Varsity Athletics Update: While everyone at the club was enjoying the weekend festivities, our women’s lacrosse and track and field athletes were hard at work.  After securing the Ivy League regular season title, the Tigers claimed the Ivy League Tournament Championship as well.  Our own Elizabeth George won tournament MVP! They won their first round matchup against Syracuse but fell against Boston College.  Congrats on a great season ladies!

The men’s track and field team was busy in Penn looking to finish off the coveted Triple Crown.  The Triple Crown entails winning the Cross Country, Indoor, and Outdoor Ivy League titles.  The men finished out the trifecta in dominate fashion beat Penn by close to 40 points.  Senior Gunner, Mitchel Charles, won both the shot put and discus on his way to the Most Outstanding Field athlete.  Junior Adam Kelly brought home the Hammer Throw title as well.  Congrats fellas!  The women also had a very respectable finish, placing third in the Ivy League.  Senior Kennedy O’Dell finished second in both the shot and the hammer, also adding points in the discus.  All in all it was a great weekend for the team.

IM Update: The IM season is over and Cannon has once again claimed the crown.  Led by our fearless IM Chairs, Spencer Long and Jesper Horsted, we retained our crown with ease winning more than 12 championships along the way.  The Inner tube waterpolo team and indoor volleyball teams came away victorious.  The teams are pictured below.

Reunions are coming and we hope to see you there. Check out last weeks post in order to see the details.  Enjoy this wonderful week!
