New Officers and Club Updates

There has a been a lot of excitement around the club in the past few weeks beginning with Bicker.  We admitted 110 new members to the club from a variety of different backgrounds.  Nearly 75 of them are on varsity athletics teams and many are also involved in other extracurricular activities on campus such as BAC (Dance Group), Princeton Faith and Action, The Daily Princetonian, as well as a variety of other groups on campus.

Following Bicker, the Club elected a group of new Officers to replace the Officers who have loyally served for the past year. They have done a great job and it will be a difficult task to replace them in the coming year.  In the coming weeks, we will have New Officer Spotlight Features so you can get to know the new people in charge. Here is a list of the new Officers: President – Julia Haney, Vice President – Andrew Diehl, Treasurer – Ali Whiting, Social Chairs – Keiko DeClerck and Elias Berbari, Bicker Chair – Nnenna Ibe, House Manager – Dan Petticord, Beverage Chair – Jake Strain, Activities Chair – Gabrielle Rush, Intramural Chair – Jesper Horsted.  This group is top notch and poised to build upon what the previous officers have accomplished.

Intramural Update: Cannon is currently in the lead to retain their IM Cup Title.  We lead the Woodrow Wilson School by just under 300 points in the overall standings and look to build upon that lead in the upcoming season as we look to sweep the 5v5 Basketball, Handball, Dodgeball, and Broomball championships to maintain the stronghold on the lead.

Varsity Athletics Update: Members of the women’s swim team had a stellar weekend as Gunners Izzy Reis, Claire McIlmail, Alisabeth Marsteller and Maddy Veith earned first team all Ivy in the 400 free relay.

The women’s basketball team clinched a spot in the Ivy League playoff with a win at Dartmouth on Friday night and looks to continue their winning ways next weekend as they have their senior day.

The men’s basketball team took home a victory on Saturday night against Dartmouth on senior night.  Gunner Amir Bell capped the night off with his 1000th career point en route to a big win.

Both the mens and women’s team end their season next weekend with games against Brown and Yale.  Come show support for the women’s team as they look to lock in the number one seed in the Ivy League Tournament on our home court.

We also are blessed to have a top 25 team in the country within the club.  The women’s tennis team has been on fire as of late, knocking off SEC and Big Ten opponents.  They are currently ranked in the top 25 in the country and look to continue their winning ways this week against Penn State and Maryland.

The Track and Field team also had their Ivy League Championships this weekend.  The mens team won by a record setting margin and had multiple Ivy League Champion Gunners among the ranks.  Junior Adam Kelly who is currently ranked 11th in the country won the weight throw and senior Mitchel Charles defended his championship in the shot put.  Newly accepted bickeree, sophomore Joey Daniels set a meet record in the 60 meter hurdles en route to an Ivy League championship.  The women’s team was highlighted by Kennedy O’Dell who medaled in both the shot put and weight throw. Anna Jurew finished third in the 1K and Christina Walter set a new school record in the 60m dash.

Stay tuned for weekly updates to see what is happening in this great club!
