  • Summer 2023

    In our summer 2023 issue:

    • At Reunions 2023, a highlight was the presentation to the Club by the Class of 1968 (their 55th Reunion) of a large painting of ‘Big Tuna’, a very convivial fish and the name of a favorite Tipple at Cannon during their years.
    • Our Manager and Head Chef Bill and his staff were busy! Feeding literally hundreds after the P-rade, returning the next for the cocktail party for the graduating seniors and their parents, followed later by our traditional post-graduation reception for seniors and their families.
    • The Club building had some physical pains. We had water heater issues with our 50-year old steam boiler which was repaired and assisted by newly-installed backup water heaters. The facade repointing got started and revealed significant water infiltration issues which we are working on.

  • Spring 2023

    In our spring 2023 issue:

    • We welcomed several new members and a new Officer Corps.
    • The club celebrated its 128th birthday which included a few Semis, a Formal, and a Lawnparties After Party!
    • We spotlight a pile of Gunners leveraging their wide-ranging talents in a variety of extracurricular activities. We also recognize a number of highly-accomplished Gunner alumni as well as award-winning current Gunners.
    • Cannon hosted a “Senior Sendoff.” Senior Gunners gathered on the front lawn with their friends and families to enjoy lunch and commemorate their time as Gunners.

  • April 2023

    In our April 2023 issue:

    • This spring, CDE officers will pilot a “junior officer” program for passionate members, who are not officers but would like to be more involved in the club.
    • Gunny recognition: we pay tribute to a talented group of Gunner members and alumni.
    • The Grad Board is wrestling with some large expenses over the next year including fixing leaks in the building’s stone facade, major changes to the building HVAC, and repairs/updates to the boiler.

    In our March 2023 issue:

    • Outgoing Grad Board Chair Bob Casey ’67, and Vice Chair, Chuck Freyer ‘69 swapped roles in December.
    • We had a successful bicker electing 107 new members, comprised of 99 sophomores and 8 juniors.
    • Of our new members, 94 are athletes playing on 25 different teams; the other 13 new members are not on a team but active in a variety of extracurricular organizations.
    • Spotlighting Gunner academic success with senior Ella Gantman ‘23 winning the Pyne prize, for her excellent scholarship, strength of character and effective leadership.

  • Fall 2022

    In our fall 2022 issue:

    • Our fall activities roundup included themed nights like “Foamcoming” and “Painting Night.”
    • This issue’s Team Feature is Women’s Volleyball with their win over Cornell in three sets to secure the Ivy League Championship (19th in program history)!
    • In late October, we hosted our “Under The Sea” semi-formal. Yup, lots of goggles and bathing suits!
    • We hosted our semiannual Cannon Parent’s Weekend on November 19 and 20.
    • In our Gunner’s Give Back recap, in addition to our consistent efforts to reduce our food waste and help the community around us, this Thanksgiving we made ready-to-go meals for those in need.

    In our summer 2022 issue:

    • In our Senior Send-Off, we recognize a total of nine graduating seniors nominated for Princeton Athletics awards.
    • As a result of COVID-19 mayhem, the NCAA granted all student-athletes an extra year of eligibility in 2020 and many of our star-athlete Gunners will continue their studies and pursue Master’s degrees at different schools.
    • Our Team Feature is Men’s Lacrosse where, for the first time since 2004, our team advanced to the NCAA Final Four.

  • Spring 2022

    In our spring 2022 issue:

    • This spring, we welcomed 81 new sophomore members into Cannon.
    • Meet our new officers (in pictures!).
    • Our Team Feature is Women’s Basketball, where our team made it to the second round of the NCAA tournament, falling to the top-ranked Indiana Hoosiers team by just one point!
    • A busy set of spring events in including: Parents Weekend, Murder Mystery Night, Cannon’s Birthday Celebration (we’re 127 years young!), and a “Grease” themed faux wedding (where our lovebirds were a Cottage girl and a Cannon boy).
    • Cannon remains dominant in the IM sports division including Inner Tube Water Polo!

  • Fall 2021

    In our fall 2021 issue:

    • At this year’s lawnparties, thanks to Social Chairs, Shannon Griffin and Niko Gjaja, we were able to host the amazing Rozes to perform for us and our guests!
    • This year’s Homecoming game between Princeton and Harvard ended up in an exciting 5 OT win over the Crimson!
    • Our fantastic Activities Chair, Abby Myers, planned activities including Karaoke, Rock Band, Trivia Night, and Card Night, and has been continuing to hold philanthropic poker nights.
    • Cannon continues its dominance in IM including our first win of the semester in badminton!

  • September 2021

    In our September 2021 issue:

    • We commemorated our first meal back after virtual learning with “We’re Back!” t-shirts for all members.
    • We held our fall Bicker on September 6-8.
    • CDE², our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion initiative, kicked off with Movie Night that included the thought-provoking (and entertaining) Disney Pixar’s “Coco,” Taika Waititi’s “Boy,” and Jordan Peele’s “Us.”
    • Our sustainability chairs will be focusing on ways to make the club greener including: limiting food waste, reducing the amount of plastic usage, increasing member consciousness of their environmental impact.

    In our summer 2021 issue:

    • After a drastically different year for the world, we truly missed Cannon life and are ridiculously excited to be back on Prospect Avenue.
    • Cannon Gunners were represented at the Olympics including Julia Ratcliffe (hammer throw), Ed Trippas (3,000m steeplechase), Tosan Evbuomwan (3×3 basketball).
    • Marisa Demeo, Dial ’88, has been elected to the Princeton University Board of Trustees.
    • Last semester, we had a large group of alumni take our members through career panels across a wide range of different career paths.

  • Spring 2021

    In our spring 2021 issue:

    • The 2021 spring semester was heavily impacted by the pandemic. Despite not having access to the club, Cannon remains a strong community, made even stronger by the addition of our amazing new sophomores during bicker!
    • Meet our 2021 officers (in pictures!).
    • CDE introduced the Higgins Scholarship Fund that will provide financial assistance to undergraduate members who face difficulty in meeting the financial obligations of membership in our club and is a part of our DEI commitment.
    • Bicker 2021 was modified for the pandemic with virtual street week and Cannon adapting our usual bicker process to a program called Glimpse, a virtual platform setting up individual 8-minute conversations.
