Gunners in the community

Cannon member Ryan Schwieger ’21 on the men’s basketball has cofounded an organization called PollHero. Here is a quote from Ryan on the project, “The PollHero project is an all-volunteer organization with the sole purpose of recruiting more young people to work the polls on election day. The majority of poll workers are older Americans, who are at a greater risk of Covid-19 complications. We are solving this problem by recruiting young people to become poll workers, ensuring polling stations are open and everybody can exercise their right to vote.” Here is the link to the full article.

Fellow basketball teammate Elijah Barnes ’21 has been a positive influence in the community for his work in the Black Lives Matter movement. Here is a link to a great article about Elijah if you haven’t seen it yet. Elijah also spoke at the BLM march in Princeton in July. Other Princeton community members also contributed to that event, here is the link to that article. We are so proud of Elijah and the work he has done for the black community!

Gunners in the Pros

We have some exciting news as two more Gunners have signed professional contracts! Jose Morales signed with AD Cantbasket 04 and will be playing professionally in Spain. Also, James Proctor of Princeton baseball signed with the Cincinnati Reds. We are so proud of you Jose and James, we can’t wait to watch your careers post college!

Speaking of Gunners in the pros, don’t forget that the NFL is starting and there are 5 Gunners to watch for there! We can’t wait to see Steve Carlson ’19 and Kevin Davidson ’20 of the Cleveland Browns, John Lovett ’19 of the Green Bay Packers, Jesper Horsted ’19 of the Chicago Bears, and Caraun Reid ’14 of the Jacksonville Jaguars. Best of luck this season to these awesome alum. Lastly, our very own Bella Alarie has been killing it in her rookie season in the WNBA, she is off to a great career with the Dallas Wings!

Officer Updates

Seven of your Cannon officers are still living together despite not being able to live in Cannon this year. For two months we are living in a house in Myrtle Beach! There have been many beach days, movie nights, and karaoke sessions, we are very thankful to still have time together even if it’s not in Cannon. To end this little update here is a picture of all of our favorite place in the world!
