Cannon Dial Elm, the next 15 years!

We will break ground on construction and renovation work in early summer. The updated and improved club will be complete and open for business by Labor Day 2026 and ready for the 2026-2027 academic year. Design renderings below show you roughly what the club will look like after we open.

Elite Sponsor opportunity

Our club is very fortunate to have an extraordinary, actively-involved alumni base, a number of whom have the ability to make significant financial contributions to the club. With this in mind, we are providing each of our alumni with the opportunity to become an Elite Sponsor for a significant contribution to our Thrive in ‘25 campaign.

The generosity of our Elite Sponsors has helped the club provide outstanding service to our members since 2011 and their contributions to the Thrive in ’25 initiative will help propel the club strongly into the 15 years to come.

In appreciation of their extraordinary generosity, Elite Sponsors will be recognized on this website, in signage at our post P-rade party, and with naming rights to different parts of the club if they so desire.

Young alumni competition

Game on!

In the spirit of our members’ highly competitive nature, we launched a donation contest among our younger alumni in the spring of 2025. Congratulations to the class of 2015 for raising the highest dollar amount per class, and to the class of 2017 for having the highest class donor participation rate! Winners were rewarded with a Winners Wagon along the P-Rade route on Whitman Hill filled with cold beverages and snacks.

We will host another donation campaign in the spring of 2026 to keep up the momentum. Classes will compete for a super special to-be-revealed prize. Keep an eye on your inboxes, Cannon Dial Elm alums since 2013!

Current challenges

Kitchen & Servery: Much of our kitchen equipment is nearing end-of-life and there is a very significant cost to replace these commercial-grade appliances within a kitchen designed to serve 200+ members. The servery is also in need of upgrades to improve meal handling and service efficiency.

Dining Room: While we are not currently seeking to significantly increase Club membership, we still face a pressing need for dining space expansion (+48 seats) in order to accommodate larger-scale dining events like Parents Weekend and events where members are accompanied by a non-member plus-one.

Workspaces: Our student workspaces and study areas need significant upgrades to reflect a level of functional, technological, and aesthetic sophistication comparable to what Princeton University graduates are likely to see in their future professional endeavors.

Competition: A number of our fellow (bicker) eating clubs have either upgraded their facilities or are planning to do so.

Investing for success

The storied Cannon Dial Elm Club is generally regarded as a welcoming home away from home for the largest family you’ve ever seen (217 members).

The club completed its last major set of renovations and upgrades prior to 2011. We have reaped the rewards of those investments, developing a reputation for serving the best meals on the Street, becoming the club for highly accomplished students who come to us from a very wide diversity of backgrounds and locations, putting on some of the best social events anywhere, and as the place where members go to have fun, unwind, study, work collaboratively, and develop lifelong friendships.

Today, the club is financially sound with a thriving and actively-involved membership roster of both students and alumni. However, after more than a decade, we must invest for the next chapter in the club’s story.

Thrive in ’25 Donors

Thank you to all of the alumni who donated to the Thrive in ‘25 campaign to help us realize our club construction dreams!
