As the fall season heats up, Princeton athletics are in full swing — and Cannon Dial Elm members are at the heart of the action. From the gridiron to the pitch, from cross country trails to volleyball courts, Gunners are making their mark across nearly every Princeton program.
Football
The Princeton Football team is off to a competitive 3–3 start (2–1 in Ivy League play) as they prepare for this weekend’s matchup against Cornell.
Under center, Kai Colon (CDE ’26) and Blaine Hipa (CDE ’26) continue to command the offense as the team’s two starting quarterbacks. Leading the charge up front is Scott Becker (CDE President), anchoring the line with stellar play at center.
In the backfield, Ethan Clark (CDE ’27) has been electric, leading the team with 313 rushing yards, while Roman Laruio (CDE ’27) ranks second in receiving with 159 yards and 12 catches. The Tigers are finding their rhythm — and the CDE presence is undeniable.

Field Hockey
The Princeton Women’s Field Hockey team is a powerhouse this season, boasting a 12–3 record (5–1 Ivy) and riding an impressive win streak.
Team captain Beth Yeager (CDE ’26) has been phenomenal, tallying 10 goals and 8 assists while earning multiple Ivy League Offensive Player of the Week honors.
Ella Cashman (CDE ’27) has also been a key contributor with 10 points, and Grace Anne McCooey (CDE ’28) — one of CDE’s most spirited members and an aspiring entrepreneur — has been instrumental in the team’s culture and success both on and off the field.

Men’s Cross Country
The Men’s Cross Country team is gearing up for the 2025 Ivy League Championships with high expectations. CDE runners are leading the pack: Miles Hogan (CDE ’28), Connor McCormick (CDE ’27), Jackson Shorten (CDE ’27), and Colin Boler (CDE ’28)all scored at last year’s championship.
Hogan earned First Team All-Ivy honors with a fifth-place finish, while Shorten and McCormick took Second Team All-Ivy with 11th and 13th place finishes. Expect these runners to make noise again this fall.

Women’s Cross Country
On the women’s side, Anna McNatt (CDE ’28) has been dominant, securing her second Ivy League Athlete of the Week award. Fellow CDE members Emily Cooper (CDE ’27) , Peyton Leigh (CDE ’28) , and Morgan Monesmith (CDE ’28) are preparing for the Ivy Championships after helping Princeton to a silver finish at the Princeton Fall Classic. The team’s depth and determination continue to shine.

Men’s Soccer
It’s an incredible moment for Princeton Men’s Soccer — the team is ranked No. 1 in the nation. CDE members Will Francis (CDE ’28) , William Beckwith (CDE ’28) , Sam Vigilante (CDE ’28) , and Stephen Duncan (CDE ’28) are key contributors, while Giuliano Witchurch (CDE ’28) leads as team captain. The Tigers’ dominance on the field is unmatched, and the CDE influence runs deep.

Women’s Soccer
The Princeton Women’s Soccer team is making its push toward postseason play with a 6–5–3 overall record (4–2 Ivy). CDE standouts Caroline Kane (CDE ’28) and Summer Pierson (CDE ’28) have been integral parts of the squad as they look to secure an NCAA tournament bid after the Ivy League championships in a few weeks.

Men’s Volleyball
After finishing last season 15–11 (10–2 Ivy), the Men’s Volleyball team continues to impress. Ryan Vena (CDE ’28) , Andrew Werner (CDE ’28) , and Owen Mellon (CDE ’27) are key players, with Vena leading the team in total points at 197.5 — a commanding performance that sets the tone for the rest of the lineup.

Women’s Volleyball
The Women’s Volleyball team is having a strong campaign at 11–5 overall (6–2 Ivy). CDE is proudly represented by Ella Bunde (CDE ’28) , Sydney Draper (CDE ’27) , Sydney Bold (CDE ’28) , Valerie Nutakor (CDE ’28) , Erin McNair, Lucia Scalamandre (CDE ’28) , and Ava Harrington (CDE ’28) .
Lucia Scalamandre leads the team in total points (216), followed closely by Valerie Nutakor (196) and Erin McNair (194). Their consistent play has powered Princeton’s continued success on the court.
