Bicker!
Cannon has been incredibly active recently. We held a very successful bicker thanks to all of our officers but most importantly our amazing Bicker Chair, Jess Lin. She ensured that everything ran smoothly and that Cannon was portrayed in its best light for the 200 Cannon bickerees.
We could not be more excited to welcome the 118 new Gunners to the club! Also, just to add even more excitement to bicker, word on the street is that the Cannon sophomore class highly outranks every other clubs’ new members :))
Take a peek below to see some of the annual “toga” party with our new and current members.

New Officers!
While I am so sad to have to make this portion of the post, it is officially time to move on from the 2025 officer corps and introduce the new Cannon leadership. I am so proud of the 10 officers this year. We hosted some pretty amazing events, revamped the CDE alumni relationship with the club (alumni dinners were an absolute hit) and most importantly, left the club in a great spot for our new officers.
It is my pleasure to introduce your newest officers in picture order:
- Scott Becker – President
- Nick Crowley – Vice President
- Taylor Hyland – Treasurer
- Jane Kuehl – Social Chair
- Abby Hornberger – Social Chair
- Julia Dumais – House Manager
- Jackson Kane – Social Chair
- Connor McKenna – Bicker Chair
- Alex Ryan – IM Chair
- Caroline Kane (not picture) – Activities Chair
Member Excellence!
Our very own, Mena Scatchard ’25 was named as one of the PNC Student-Athlete Achievers. Scatchard is a record-setting middle distance runner for Princeton track & field and cross country. A senior captain and 2023 All-Ivy honoree, Scatchard has been the top finisher for the Tigers through their opening two races this season. On the track, she has captured Ivy titles in the 1000m and 4x800m and holds school records in the 1000m and 1500m. An academic All-Ivy honoree from North Yorkshire, United Kingdom, Scatchard is majoring in the School of Public and International Affairs with a minor in Global Health and Health Policy. She has conducted research for the World Health Organization and worked alongside public health organizations in India. Additionally, she is a sports club supervisor and active volunteer with her team in the Trenton community.

Former Cannon Gunner – Ryan Quigley
As one of my final posts, I felt I should certainly include a piece on former Cannon member, Ryan Quigley. Ryan graduated from Princeton in 2020 and was a key member of the Princeton Football team as well as of CDE. For those who may not know, Ryan was injured in the tragic New Orleans terrorist attack on December 31st. He was spending his New Year’s Eve on Bourbon Street with his best friend and former Princeton Football player, Tiger Bech ’20. Tiger tragically lost his life.
Quigley and Bech were inseparable. They worked together, lived together, and did everything together. I did not know Ryan or Tiger personally but have heard so much about them through my Princeton Football friends and no matter who I talk to about them, they always talk about how bubbly, full of life, and simply amazing that Tiger was and Ryan is. Despite not personally knowing them, this story always makes me emotional because it hits so close to home. You never think that these types of stories in the news will be about your community, but this one was.
If I learned anything from this, it is that there is nothing more important than enjoying the life that you have and that your community is something you should never take for granted. Cannon will always be a part of Ryan’s life and he will always be a part of our club’s story. He is stronger than I ever hope to be, and although he doesn’t know it, he is forever a role model in my life and in CDE’s life.
If you haven’t yet, take a look at this video from ESPN that was aired before the Superbowl about Ryan and Tiger’s story, it is amazing: https://www.espn.com/video/clip/_/id/43762991

Pictured are Ryan and Tiger in our beloved Cannon basement and in front of our cannon 🙂
I have had the best time as Vice President of Cannon. I will forever be proud of myself for following through with my plan. I hope I have been able to keep you all updated and laughing (most importantly) through my posts. I am certain that … will be keeping the Cannon website in good hands.
Do good, be good, and God Bless!
See you at reunions!
Mia 🙂
