Hi everyone! Long time no see! I wanted to wait until a bit into September to post my newest blog to ensure that I did not miss a detail with you all in sharing how our first few weeks back have been.
Where to begin…
First Lunch Back 🍽️
Cannon is an eating club so it would be highly improper if I didn’t start off with an ode to the food. We are a club with a lot of athletes and that means:
- We are ALWAYS hungry!
- We engage in a ridiculous amount of carb and protein loading.
- Being team-oriented, we are extremely gregarious and the only thing we like more than being around our mates is being around our mates with a giant spread of food nearby.
- Did I mention that we are always hungry? ALWAYS!
Bill and his amazing kitchen staff take the best care of us and we are so beyond grateful to have them. Nobody goes hungry here and, accordingly, the club is always packed at meal time! This video gives you some idea of how Cannon does lunch. Can you say, bustling? (Watch your fingers.)
First Day Back 🎓
It feels so amazing to be back. I just wanted to share a few photos of the first day back and specifically, of my first day of senior year at Cannon. It is going to be a great fall semester 🍁.
Lawnparties
Lawnparties was a success at Cannon. We were open for the night out after NLE Choppa performed and had a student DJ play. People loved it and the night was a success! Check out the awesome T-Shirts our social chair Jen Olnowich made for the occasion.
Bicker 2024
This year was the last year of fall bicker. Cannon is welcoming SIX new Gunners to the family. They are: Daphne Banino ’26, Maddy Wood ’25, Nick Patterson ’26, Lucas Mooney ’26, Grace Anne McCooey ’26, and Jalen Geer ’25. We couldn’t be more excited to have them and I know they are all so beyond thrilled to be a part of Cannon. We also catered some Chik Fil A for the special night 😉
Rave Night
Cannon’s big night of September is Rave Night. Everyone knows it and everyone wants to come. The list was HUGE this year and all of the officers did a really great job of promoting the event. I will share some of the photos of the night below.
P.S. Tommy, our house manager, is the confetti cannon guy. Never seen a man so pumped to shoot confetti in my life.
Cannon Leaders 👑
Cannon is proud to host not just the majority of Princeton student-athletes, but the best of them. We happen to have a majority of the Princeton Athletics team captains in our club as well. For example, all FIVE of the Princeton Football captains this year are Cannon members including our House Manager, Tommy Matheson. John Volker, Mason Armstead, Nick Hilliard, and Collin Taylor are also team captains.
We are proud to have some of the best people at this university in our club. Not every club on the street can say they have every football captain, softball captain, women’s ice hockey captain, wrestling captain, swim & dive team captain, etc. We are pretty awesome.
Honorary Cannon Member, John Mack 🎖️
In other Athletics news… Cannon was proud to induct Athletics Director, John Mack, as an honorary Cannon member. It only seems right that the man in charge of athletics is also a part of the club that hosts the majority of them at Princeton. Chuck Freyer, Avery Shunneson, and myself were able to sit down with John, present him with his CDE tie and sign his name into the member book. He was thrilled to be a part of the place that nourishes and stands as a home to so many of his athletes.

That is all I have for now. I hope you all have a good sense of how these last few weeks have gone for Cannon. It is safe to say that there has been a lot going on and that will only continue. Parents’ weekend is up next!
I can feel the excitement in the air every time I am in the club and it is a refreshing feeling. People are excited about Cannon and what we have planned and I can’t wait to keep you all updated!
