Back to School! – September 2023

It’s that time of year again – the Gunners are back! The club is full of gunny spirit. Our servery is packed every meal with members excited to be back in the club, spending time with one another, and enjoying the BEST food on the street.

During fall street week, we welcomed 20 new members to the club – 6 seniors and 14 juniors. This cohort of students includes members of the Women’s Rugby team and Men’s Squash team. We now have members from 27 of the 38 varsity athletic teams.

A Warm Welcome

Each class of members receive a tie or necklace to signify their membership. This year, we began a new tradition. After dinner one evening, our President, Josh, shared some words about the history of Cannon Dial Elm to familiarize the new members with the essence of being a Cannon member. Following the speech, senior members gave an item to a new member and offered them a word of wisdom about their Cannon experience. We introduced this activity to strengthen the bonds across classes in the club.

This week, members will don their necklace or tie for the traditional Cannon Faceboard photos.

Servant Leaders

Off the field and outside of the classroom, Cannon is home to many individuals that are passionate about serving the Princeton community.

Stefanie Wallace ’24, Daniella Calabrese ’24, Kate Monihan ’24, Maddie Wolford ’25, Ariana Di Landro ’25, and Erica De San Jorge ’25 serve as SHARE Peers. In this capacity, they are peer educators on interpersonal violence who connect students to supportive resources and host educational workshops for the campus community.

Grace Jackson ’24 is a Team IMPACT Fellow. Team IMPACT matches children facing serious illness and disability with college sports teams, creating a long-term, life-changing experience for everyone involved. Grace represents Team IMPACT on campus and collaborates with the athletic department and greater campus community to raise awareness and increase program participation.

Liam Johnson ’24 is one of the co-Presidents of the Student Athlete Service Committee. He works hard to connect student athletes with service opportunities and recently helped out at the Princeton Mobile Food Pantry packing groceries!

The Princeton Women’s Swim and Dive Team, many of whom are Gunners, hosts an annual 5k Collegians Run for the Cure For Breast Cancer to raise money for the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. Click here to help the PWSD reach their annual $5000 goal!

Rave Night

Our annual Rave Night has become a highly sought-after party in the fall. The social chairs go above and beyond to create a fun, vibrant atmosphere. This year, we had bubble machines and black lights that created a rave-like vibe in the backyard. Plus, an incredible club caliber DJ headlined the night. It was definitely a night to remember!
