Hello Cannon Dial Elm Alumni! I hope you all enjoyed your summer. The Officers returned to campus this week to prepare for the semester ahead. There is a lot for students to look forward to including a Welcome Back Barbecue, our annual Rave Night, and a Friday Night Lights Football Tailgate. I will be sure to share highlights from these events and more throughout the semester.
Leveling up 21 Prospect Ave
While the clubhouse has been a bit quieter without the students, various restoration projects were underway to keep the building in pristine condition. As Chuck highlighted in his summer newsletter, the exterior has been repointed to improve the building’s longevity. The Crane Room has also undergone some repair. These projects would not be possible without support of our generous alumni – we greatly appreciate your contributions!

The Officers have also facilitated various upgrades to the club. The Social Chairs and House Manager have revamped the lighting systems in the basement and added a regulation sized pong table with the Cannon Moose logo on it. We also added a breakfast only espresso machine which students are really excited about!

Paint “da Moose”
In the summer of 1987, Bradley “Jon” Holland ’89 painted the iconic Moose on the wall of Dial Lodge. 35+ years later, “da Moose” is still being used on club paraphernalia as seen on last year’s House Parties t-shirt. The Moose was used in DEC in the 1990s as well. Sadly, Jon passed in 2019.
Spearheaded by Jon’s brother, Steven Holland ’88, and friends Al Gayle ’88– and Ralph Wright ’88, we are going to bring the Moose back, both as a fitting tribute to Jon – and a reminder of our youthful days at the club. Contributions to this campaign will help us support efforts to get the “da Moose” painted back on the wall – near the taproom, of course. Very few things remain on campus for 35 years. If you have wandered around at reunions, thinking “where did this building come from?” you know what I mean.
If you remember “da Moose,” please make a donation. You can click here to make a contribution and in the Special Instructions – please list – Paint “da Moose” to direct your support to the Paint da Moose campaign.
We plan to have a celebration and official unveiling around the Yale Football game on November 11!

That is all for now! We are so excited for school to start and for our incredible members to bring their energy to the club once again.
With love,
Kate
